Frank Zappa - the true reason for the season.
Okay. Hear me out. We all know that xmas is really an ancient pagan celebration of Winter Solstice, retrofitted with Jesus after christianity overtook Europe, right?. And because the Roman Empire was always tweaking the calendar, December 25th was thought to be the Solstice, and they celebrated this as the festival of Natalis Invictus, the birth of Sol Invictus, the god of the unconquerable sun. The Catholic church co-opted this celebration by swapping their own god for the ancient sun god, although biblical scholars agree that the few clues in the bible referring to the birth of Jesus pretty much disqualify Winter Solstice as the timeframe for that event.
So, the day of the year we’re really celebrating is Winter Solstice, which is really December 21st, and the god actually born on this day was Frank Zappa.
